Once again, the Live IS NOT an Ensoniq chip. Ensoniq created the 1370 and
1371. The Live IS an EMU10k....made by one of Creative's subsidiaries. The
1371 isn't really much different from the 1370, just used in the later
production runs of the PCI64 and I believe all of the PCI128s.

As far as a SBLive 512 I've never heard of one. Some people may dub the
Live the "512" because the number of simultaneous voices but there's no such
thing that I've heard of. Just the Live and the Live Value. A Live Value
is the exact same as the Live WITHOUT the Digital I/O daughter card. There
IS however, a new line of Live products (one targeted towards gamers, one
targeted to MIDI guys and another targeted at yet another segment) but I
haven't really looked into them.

The only thing that works are the Live Linux drivers from Creative which are
currently in Beta, these drivers do not have their own mixer or other common
sound card supports.

I think a lot of people fail to realize the Live is one of the few
proprietary cards out there...only Creative makes it -- unlike most of the
other sound card chips out there. Creative appears to be working on the
drivers but is totally new to open source and has done some goofy things.
I'm hoping they'll come around.
