Hello everyone. I have a couple of questions, well one
mainly. I've been on here lurking about for a good 5 months now learning
little tidbits of Linux from reading posts here, and I want to get started into
Linux first hand. I have a small machine that I have setup to start using
linux, but am a Dos/Windows person, and I have seen several UMSDOS Linux
versions out there and have downloaded Pygmylinux to choose to start playing and
understanding. What I am wondering tho, is what version of these UMSDOS
version is the best for learning with, I want to start using Xwindows, and I
know of Gnome and KDE, but would like some guidance on understanding the X
system a bit better. The Machine I choose to start my experiences on
is.
486sx -33 Processor
Cirrus Logic GD5422 - VGA Card
1 GIG Hard Drive
14.4 Modem
Internal 10baseT Network Card (Most likely 3 com, but have to
open it up to check)
I work in the Computer field as a Computer Tech for Unisys, so
I have plenty of computer background. Any suggestions for the newbie, and
I do know that the first Tuesday of each month is Klug Newbie night :) and I
might be able to make one of those sometime in the future.
Thanks
