I'v had bad luck with these controllers even under Win 98 SE... The drive
will run fine off the on board IDE port, it will drop back to the 33 Megabit
transfer rate. In short, Yank the card and replace the ATA66 cable with a
standard IDE cable and plug it into the standard IDE port on board. Return and
get your money back on the Promise card.

I have a new gateway system with this
promise ultra 66 controller, i got the redhat both 6.0 and 6.1and both don't
support them. i got the beta drivers for RH6.0 from the promise site but
they don't work either. now i'm stuck and cannot install linux on my
computer. if anyone has any idea on how to make this work or anyone knows
where i can get a better patch or something especially for redhat 6.1 would be
very helpful. thankx!
