legitimate linux question

so anyhow i got myself a real true to life modem *clap, clap, cheers from
the peanut gallery* and replaced that crappy WinModem... anyhow all that
really meant was that i wanted to re-install Linux, so i started to look for
that copy i had once upon a time... it ended up being easier to pick up
RH6.1 from Best Buy for $20... anyhow i installed it, i'm not gonna ask any
PPP questions right now cause i'll peruse the archives first... anyhow my
question is more severe... i installed the GNOME workstation install (don't
really know the difference between GNOME and KDE but oh well) and it runs, a
little slowly but that's okay i guess, anyhow my question is how do i set
the screen resolution to be higher... it appears to be at 640x480 and i
wouldn't mind at least 800x600 if not 1024x768... yes that's my question:
how do i set the screen resolution to be higher?

thanks for your time...
