Re: legitimate linux question



I would recommend (once you get your computer back in shape) booting
into linux at runlevel 3 (at the LILO: prompt, enter 'linux 3').  From
there,  log in as root, run Xconfigurator (everything in UNIX is case
sensitive, that's why I typed for you correctly) or XF86Setup--I
recommend Xconfigurator.  It kind of walks you through and does a lot of
neat probing.
