Re: hardware question
okay... so here's kinda the real error we get: "windows sucks" but seriously
the problem is that my friend installed a new mobo and processor (Tyan mobo,
not sure of it's exact number, & P3 500) he's got a wonderful video card
(Diamond Viper V770) and 128megs (of possibly 66mHz) RAM... now in windows
he was having no problems right off the bat... the new configuration was
slightly slower than that old P2 350, but still acceptable, weird but
acceptable... anyhow he, a bunch of other friends, and myself decided that
we'd bring all of our computers over to one person's house and network them
and play games against each other because it'd be fun to play Rogue Spear
w/out any lag (vs. Internet play) we had done this once before and this time
it started out with a couple of problems: i forgot power cables, 3 of the
first 4 computers there needed NICs... once we got all squared away, or
almost squared away, my friend's computer really started to misbehave... see
now here's where an actuall "Windows Wizzard" is needed... everytime we got
this game up and going (rogue spear) it would be fine until the game
launched, at which time my friend got a nice blue screen of death stating
that some Virtual Driver created a problem... everytime... and so he
reformated, did a bunch of other stuff, and found that his video card wasn't
completely in the AGP slot... fixed that, problem still existed... so we
figured that it was the network... left it be... now some of his other games
won't even run and he keeps getting the Virtual Drivers problem at different
memory addresses each time...
that's the problem... not that anyone here happens to know much about
Windows (nor do i expect anyone here to just because it is a Linux User
Group) but if anyone know's of a possible problem or maybe of a place i
could find out an answer i'd be very much indebted...
