Which hides a great deal of the machinery from the novice. 
You want to know what's going on behind those scenes before
you let the programming environment hide them from you.

Where have you gone, and what do you call "substance"? One of
the problems with the APL world is that it is not terribly
web-oriented. There are organizations that actively DISCOURAGE
public display of their use of APL, for a number of reasons.

I can tap a supply of books, including out-of-print books,
at reasonable prices. There are also free courses in APL 
on-line.
