Confused by esound!
Has anyone used esound to move sound over a LAN?
First the RPM with Redhat is esound is 2.12-5, and the one from the
esound web site is 2.8. This seems confusing, is the link from
Freshmeat not to the current site? If so, I can't find the real one.
The documentation on the website says "esd -port XYZ" causes esound to
listen on port XYZ. However, even though it says "listining on port
XYZ" when you start it up a quick check with "netstat \l" shows NO
server listening on port XYZ. Did Redhat (I'm using the RPM as it is
newer) neuter esd like they did xfs so it can't get network
connections? If so where does one find the latest source code?
And Redhat's security by brick wall technique beginning to annoy me.
