Help! kioslave???
My LINUX machine had nearly crawled to a stop when I queried
ps -ax and discovered there were nearly 100 tasks labelled
kioslave, sometimes with some detail. I started to kill them but seemed
able only to kill one at a time. So I exitted from Xwindows which got rid
of them all. These jobs had arisen from my repeated using the 'home
directory' option in the KDE window manager in order to get an HTML reader
that was faster than Netscape. Well, it was faster at first but as I
flipped from one html document to another, these kioslave tasks got left
behind, even after I exitted from that KDE directory mode entirely.
First of all, what has KDE done?
Secondly, can I get rid of that crippling overload on my weakling 166MHz
pentium/32M ram system without exitting X11?
Looking forward to the outstanding KLUG expertise,
