Pointers on tuning the performance of Linux.

Just when you thought it was impossible to get more fromyour linux box,
Adam will show us how! Tonight join us for important adjustments to
improve performance including: kernel parameters, socket options, and
irq priority. Linux "out-of-the-box" is really still tuned for a 80486
with 16Mb of memory. Optimal
performance requires a fair amount of tweeking, and being able to
benchmark the
changes.

Adam is a network administrator based in Grand Rapids, but the network
he deals with is all over Michigan, with a couple of hundred workstations,
running Linux and other Operating Systems. Not only does he deal with
domain issues at work, but he is also the owner of the domain "whitemice.org".
Recently married and ensconced as a KLUG officer (independent events),
Adam has been a regular contributor to technical discussions on our main
mailing list, both presenting and solving some of the most challenging
networking and configuration problems.

December 28th
Preparing for 2000

Join us tonight to take a closer look at the many opportunities KLUG
offers you to be involved in the Linux and West Michigan communities.
We as a group have volunteered this year and been of service to many
non-profit and local organizations. As we prepare for the following
year, we would like very much to include you in the endeavors in a
capacity which fits into your schedule. We've grown a lot this past
year and are looking forward to the challenges that this next year has
to offer. Whether you are interested in holding an office, heading up a
project, or offering a helping hand, we can use your talents. Remember,
technical experience is not a prerequisite! We are looking forward to
seeing you there!

Other ideas proposed for presentations include Digital Audio,
networking topics, web site construction and web server operation.
We also will be presenting some of the twenty or more topics covered over
the last few months.
Please check back soon. We will update this page as we schedule
events and meetings.

Look at notes from a few of our Past
Presentations to see what we've already done.

If you would like to make a presentation,
or you have questions about our meetings,
please send email to: the
KLUG Program Director
