Java programming and IDE

Having next week off I thought I'd try to learn how to program on Linux. I would
like to learn Java to start with and was wondering what people might recommend
for a newbie programmer to use. I've worked in the past with products like the
Borland C++ IDE and was wondering if getting into the Borland JBuilder IDE for
Linux was a good idea or use something from KDE or Gnome or any other package
that may be out there. Maybe some products allow more than one language to edit,
compile and debug other than just Java. I think Borland is offering their basic
product for $50. I'm going to upgrade to Redhat 7.0 on my pc that has 6.1 on it
as well so if anybody knows what I already may have I'd appreciate it any
feedback.

Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

Chad
