An interesting point; however, unsatisfying on one count: At some point, many
people make a choice, even for a time. That choice may be to NOT know about
some aspect of the environment. This may be a useful choice for many, in order
to develop focus on a particular area.

The choice that I am presenting is not an "either/or" kind of choice; it's not
exclusive at all. In actuality, what I'm offering this mailing list is more
of a choice than you have now... the choice NOT to get everything. There is
nothing that will stop you from belonging to ALL the mailing lists if you
wish, and I would hope that someone asking a novice-type question would never
be flamed for doing so on the main mailing list. However, it may well be
constructive to think about (and form) additional mailing lists where there
is the critical mass available to sustain them, and then encourage people to
use those list instead of the entire mailing list.
Your choice of reading everything is a good one for your level of understanding
and growth. Others, at a different level, can make choices they cannot make
today, but only to the extent that we sensibly divide the information flow. I
understand your concern, there are others as well that would not interfere with
your desire to pick up knowledge. We can explore that in a safe way, and see
how it works.
