RedHat updated Rawhide with kernel 2.4.18 release 0.12. It contains the
full stock kernel 2.4.18 release with lots of various patches.
Of note to myself:
- 3w-xxxx.c v1.02.00.016 (3Ware Escalade RAID controllers)
- sis900.c v1.08.03 (SiS900 NICs integrated in SiS chipsets)
The latest 3Ware driver covers the latest 6.9 firmware release for the
6000 series (1.02.00.019 is required for the latest 7.4 firmware release
for the 7000 series though). 1.02.00.008 is in the 2.4.9-* series,
quite a ways back.
The latest sis900 driver is much more recent (November 2001) than the
one in 2.4.9-* (April 2001). I have had the 2.4.9-* driver fail with
certain NFS duties as well as tend to negotiate at only 10Mbps, and some
of the Rawhide 2.4.16/17 drivers have various auto-negotiation issues
(usually requiring a "service network reset" if something as simple as
the cable is pulled).
I will be giving the kernel RPM set a full "shakedown" this week before
passing onto clients. As always, I recommend rebuilding Rawhide
packages from source RPM.

P.S. The new RedHat 7.2.91 "Skipjack" Beta ships with 2.4.18-0.4 (an
earlier release).
