My system uses a serial mouse.
On fast movement or high speed settings, the pointer behaves
erratically. For example, if I slide left quickly the pointer
jumps around and sometimes even goes the other direction. Often
times, it ends up close to the same spot from which I started. If I
change the setting to go slower, or I move the mouse much slower, it
seems to work fine.
I've put 3 different serial mice in the port and all three behave the
same way. I've decided that it is unlikely (though possible) that
all three are bad in exactly the same way. Something else must be
up.
Possible problems that I can see:
1) Conflict with modem and mouse COM Ports?
The modem isn't on when this happens. I believe I have it set
this way. (I have to double check later)
Modem:COM 2
Mouse:COM 1
2) Backwards installation of the COM port connector?
I don't know what this might do. But, this chance does exist.
What are your thoughts?
Chris.
