I'm still a little leery about them after plugging one into a
ECS K7S5A motherboard. That didn't work, and Linux didn't know
any better. Linux kept on using it, randomly corrupting data
until the entire system was trashed. This happened multiple
times until I bought a different (more expensive ASUS) mobo.
Since then it's worked fine.

I don't know if it was sharing an IRQ or not, but I know that
I'll never plug a RAID card of any kind into that mobo again!

It also works fine on my ASUS A7M266 (single Athlon).
