>>Anyone have any experience with the HP ze4220?
>But ya gotta remember, It's an HP/Compaq. I speak with experience here.
>This box that I am using now is a Compaq. Propriety software, _and_
>hardware. HP's are the same. I bought one year ago last Nov. for a server.
The thought of a Compaq server is almost comical. For servers there is
this company called "IBM", they guarantee, even certify, that everything
works with RedHat and several other distros. No other company does that
to a degree worth mentioning. If it isn't black, rack-mountable, with a
copyrighted charcoal texture, and says "IBM" on the front - it isn't a
server - it's a bloated PC.
>Worst mistake of buying anything online that I've ever done. Personal
>opinion: Run Away!! Fast! Faster!!
For laptops you have: HP, Compaq, Toshiba, and Sony. Pick the least of
all evils. And what works all depends on the model.
>>The best part is the keyboard illumination!
>Perhaps some other vender has the same thing that you are looking for in
>keyboard illumination. :-) At best, possibly a cheaper price. Check
>pricewatch.com.
I only buy hardware like laptops from people I can walk up to and yell
at. Buying brand fribitz from nakedgeekswithlaptops.com isn't a viable
option. Best buy is 7 minutes drive, good yelling distance - so is
Circuit City. CompUSA is ~15 minutes, still not too bad.
Do you have a brand/model you recommend that is carried by major
outlets? (In the ~1k price range)
