Regarding Notebooks:
Almost 2 yrs ago I bought a non-name brand notebook that I thought was
500$ cheaper than anything else comparable and have never regretted it.
www.powernotebooks.com. The one I bought is PowerPro III:33. I run mandrake
9 at present and it works great including the lucent winmodem(absolutely no
problems), onboard ethernet, usb, firewire and dvd all of which I use. This
laptop doesn't do windows except as a vmware image. Problems with it are: the
loud fan and no support for 3d from the savage video chipset(no big prob for
me). Although I haven't had to use it their support has a good reputation.
I just noticed they now have a linux forum and support. Their newest laptops
feature onboard wireless. Of course.....YMMV. Jon
