>>So you may be meeting a 1415-S173 on Tuesday.
>>I'll just have to work out a solution for the lack of a serial port.
>Please keep me posted on your serial port solution!
>I'm going to return the Dell work bought for me because I don't like the
>14" screen (coming from a 15"), and the heat it produces is so hot I can
>feel it coming up through the keyboard as I type.

Yeah, the 15"in screen is just like a standard 17in monitor, couldn't
see living with anything smaller.

>I was debating on trying a Centrino model since they have a lower
>overall clock speed and lower power utilization, which _should_ mean
>lower heat. I'd REALLY like a laptop that I can actually use on my lap
>without getting third degree burns on my legs, but I'm not sure such a
>thing exists.
>Although I may end up with a 1415-S173 myself too. Not sure yet . . .

I couldn't fint a -S145 which was listed for really cheap several
places.

I just arrived home with a 1135-S155, it is installing RH9 now. No
problems so far.

The only difference I could see between the 1135-S155 and the 1415-S173
was that the -S173 sported an internal wireless NIC. Since no one could
tell me anything about the NIC I figured I'd buy an Orinoco on E-bay for
$50 and not spend the extra ~$150 for something I didn't know if it
would work or not.

The 1135-S155 specs out like -
2.0 Ghz Celery
40MB ATAPI HDD
512Mb of DDR SDRAM
15" TFT XGA display
CDC/CD-RW combo
Integrated 10/100Mbps ethernet

No floppy and no serial port, but it does have TV out with is reported
by google to actually work with Linux.

Since the DVD/CD-RW is fixed it can't be swapped out for a second
battery.
