Yes, buy from a place that allows returns!!!  Buy one, try it with
Linux, if you don't like something, return it and try another.

Dell allows returns.  I know, I returned two!  :-)  
They even paid shipping costs, BOTH WAYS!  100% satisfaction guarantee.
They are mostly Linux compatible, but I didn't like the wide screen.
I didn't want to spend the time to try other Dell models.

The place where I bought the Toshiba I'm typing on now (Circuit City)
told me that I had 14 days to return it for a FULL refund.  Even after I
told the salesman that I was going to return it if it didn't run Linux.
He told me that's a valid reason for returning it.  I was impressed!

Some place charge a restocking fee for returns, so be careful.
