I have an Olympus C-700UZ, a predecessor to that model, and I love it.
When I plug it into my USB port, it shows up as a SCSI disk drive and
works fine under Linux.
Even though my camera only has half the megapixels as the C-4000, feel
free to check out some pictures I've taken with it. All of these
pictures were taken with my C-700UZ: http://www.reddog.org/nge/
Those pictures were taken in 1600x1200 mode, and then shrunk to 1280x960
by ImageMagick with a higher compression ratio, so the actual pictures
are a little better quality than the ones on the web site (and about
twice the size).
