[KLUG Hardware] PCI Eathernet card will not work

Randall, I thank you for your suggestions. I cannot believe what the
solution wound up being.

I have 3 of these nic's, I stick to d-link because I have never had trouble
before. I switched my network cards out between my to Linux computers and
sure enough the problem moved with the cards.

One thing of note: I am running kernel 2.2.14 on both my Linux computers. I
downloaded kernel 2.2.22 (I do not have all the right libraries to compile
2.4) to my gateway.

When I boot the gateway with the good or bad network card in it, Kernel
2.2.22 gives me the message "modprobe:modprobe can't locate module
char-major-04"

Any ideas? I would like to run this newer kernel.

Thanks again
