Yes, I own one.  (and have used it too :)

Mine is old, and not worth mentioning the model.
It is missing a things most new ones have.

For example my batteries (4 AA) only last 3-4 hours.
Batteries in new GPS's clam to last twenty+ hours.
Plus most only use 2 AA batteries instead of 4.

Mine also keeps losing signal when conditions aren't perfect.

Because of the stuff I mentioned above, I'm also shopping for a new GPS.

They like the Garmin & Magellan brands.  Price depends on how many
features you want/need, but prices have come down a lot since I 
bought mine, and entry models are very reasonable.

I don't know which ones, if any, talk to Linux.
