[KLUG Hardware] hand held gps's

I have a pcmcia gps that I have used in my PDA (IPAQ) which worked
pretty good. Although it is nice and portable, looking at baps on a
small screen is not desirable. When I find it again I would like to try
to get it working on my laptop but I am not sure where to start.

For $99 you can buy a earthmate. If you go that route be sure to check
out gpsdrive @ http://www.kraftvoll.at/software/index.shtml.

Good luck

Anyone use a hand held gps? If so what model, do you like it, how well
does it work?

There is a guy here we are sending to europe and he wants to get one -
something stand alone, oriented towards driving.

Personally I want one with a serial/usb cable that can talk to a Linux
application.

So probably looking for two different recommendations.
