Here's a compelling reason:  IT'S FIXED NOW!!!  YEAH!!!  :-)))

I just downloaded and installed the newly released Redhat 9 kernel,
kernel-2.4.20-13.9.i686.rpm, and DMA support now appears to work on my
new Toshiba laptop!!!

# hdparm /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 multcount    = 16 (on)
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  1 (on)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    =  8 (on)
 geometry     = 4864/255/63, sectors = 78140160, start = 0

Order you new BSware for next week, now! ;-)
