Yep. AWESOME possibilities.

The WRT54GS has 32MB RAM (8MB flash), all 3 versions of the WRT54G have only
16MB (4MB flash).
The first 2 WRT54G models (v1.0 and v1.1) also have a slower 125MHz processor.
(compared to the 200MHz processor of the WRT54GS and WRT54G v2).

A cool thing about the first WRT54G models, is that they took a modular approach
(like Lucent/Avaya/Orinico with the PCMCIA cards in the ECs and USB boxes).
In much the same way I used to hack the USB boxes and upgrade the cards and
antennas..you can gut the mini-pci wireless card out of the WRT54G v1.0 and put
into your laptop.

The first WRT54G also had almost 3x as many LEDs lighting up the front of the box.

If you want to know versions before you buy, you can decipher the serial number
(if still in box). But in any case, it is fun and a learning experience.
