[Novices] them little bitty pictures

I hope all these haven't been asked too many times before....

When someone sends me jokes or whatever with JPEG. pictures attached and I 
open them, they open with kuickshow but in a little bitty picture up in the 
corner that can't be expanded.  The page can but the picture won't.  Is there 
any way I can change a setting or something to make the pictures larger.  If 
there is any text with them it is way to small to read.
