[Novices] website taking up too many CPU cycles

Steve,

May I suggest an upgrade to Firefox. You can control (i.e. turn off)
many of the "animation" activities such as flashing, scrolling, etc.
Also, it has a wonderful extension called AdBlock. Not only can it
block ads but pretty much any external content. I have found both to be
easy to use. At installation, AdBlock knows about many of the major ad
sites but you can also add sites (with RegEx wildcards!). It took me
about a month to add all of the little advertisers at many of the sites
I visit. After that, it's works so well you forget about ads until you
borrow someone else's computer then you realize how good the net is
without all of the ads.

Mark
