I have really enjoyed reading parts of "A Practical Guide to Linux" by Mark G.
Sobell. ISBN for my copy from 1999 is: 0-201-89549-8
<http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201895498/qid=1108675552/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-0568916-9958421>
or if you trust me *wink*:

Even has a foreword by Linux Torvalds.
After reading it, it's worth keeping around as a reference. I preferred it to
the O'Reilly books "Linux in a Nutshell" and "Running Linux", both of which
I've owned/read. I just found it more easily readable and better organized.
