Since you're running SuSE, it's based on the RPM package manager.

Tar files and RPM files are a bit much to explain on a mailing list IMO.
(but if someone else wants to give it a try, feel free! :)

There have been KLUG presentations on the subject a long time ago.
And Adam as been begging people to suggest beginner presentation topics.
I recommend you subscribe to the "speakers" mailing list if you're not
already on it (if not, you should be!) and suggest some presentations.
Maybe we can repeat some of the old material, but first we need to learn
what people want to hear about.

Is your problem with the actual graphics, or the text?  If it's really
the text, go to YAST, online update, and download the Microsoft fonts.
That helps web pages a lot, IMO.
