[Novices] Using Knoppix to Test, Diagnose & Benchmark

No. I'm the first to admit I don't know what I'm doing.
I'm not looking for a package. I just want to know how to do the same
things that I know how to do in Windows, because that will make Linux
useful to me. Right now, it has a lot of potential, but getting any sort of
direction and help (at the level I need) is too frustrating and I'm
wondering if it's worth it.
Thanks for your input.
