[Novices] Where to park downloaded backgrounds

You can see the various directories used for different purposes by going
to the "Tools" in the drop-down menu and pick "Options".  In the left
pane is a entry called "Paths" in the tree widget.  Click on that and
you'll see all the paths displayed in the right hand pane.

An impress background in an sti file (ends in .sti).  You can also just
save it anywhere and open it and you'll be in presentation edit mode
with that as the template, then 'save as' and you'll make a new sxi
(impress presentation file).
