[Novices] changing default paper size

If it's your user name, put the password in for that account, NOT root's
password. If your user account doesn't have a password, the dialog might
accept an empty password field. If it doesn't, you'll probably have to
set up a password for your username, OR change the username field to
"root" if you're going to use root's password. You MUST use the password
set for the username you put in.

It should at least prompt you for the root password to let you do that.
