[Novices] re: YaST2 not responding to shutdown command

How did you issue the shutdown command?  Did you do an /sbin/shutdown to shut down the system?
What was this other route that you spoke of?  I would suspect that this other route is what caused yast to freeze.

If YaST will not respond then kill it.  Find it's process id:

	ps -eal | grep yast

And then kill it:

kill <process id>
