Greetings, Kalamazoo LINUX users's group,
I've been now in Germany for about 1 1/2 years, now in Weimar where I am
attempting to get teachers in my
wife's international school to experiment with Ubuntu. (note that while
I failed as an educational promoter
of LINUX in Michigan, I'm still trying). I've just installed a second
harddrive on a W2000 machine on which
I am loading Ubuntu. Said machine is one of the strange mix of
hand-me-downs we have at the school; the hard drive
came from a unit with two blown electrolytics on the mother board.
Right now I have a weird problem:
I use Suse 9.3 on my home system and have found Yast2 very helpful in
getting updates, etc.
However, today Yast2 does not respond at all to requests for updates or
local installations.
Being a lazy fellow, I did not check any error logs but eventually I
invoked yast2 by line
command rather than mouse clicks and behold, I have the error messages
yast2 had been sending
me quietly:

I was suspicious that I had installed some new software which screwed
up the way
the qt library is organized. Unfortunately, killing and reinstalling
yast2 itself and qt3 did not solve the
problem so I present it here to the notorious KLUG gurus.
Looking forward to hearing from someone, with some KLUG updates as well
as a fix for
my problem,
Ralph M. Deal, always a novice
