If you custom compiled anything make sure the proper use flags were used,
make sure the kernel is configured correctly, I remember once in one of the
earier 2.6 kernel's I forgot to include support for jpeg or gif and they
wouldn't render.

Subject: [Novices] some web images (like google maps) won't load in Firefox

Hey computer folks, I wonder if you can help me out with a small,
strange problem.

There are certain images that just won't load in Firefox on Ubuntu 5 at
home - images such as map images on Google maps, and small icons in an
online FCKeditor-like html editor. I can't imagine what's different
about those images, and I've made sure those sites are allowed to
download all images in Firefox, and so on. They load fine in my FC3
machine in the office, and in Opera at home. What could be going on?

Also, I've noticed on occasion that Firefox will suddenly start taking
lots of CPU work just to switch tabs, open menu items, and so on. Any
guesses why that might be?

Thanks,
Steve
