Do you have the check-box marked to update this from DHCP?

My first order of business once you have ping-ability would be to setup a
Bind/DNS server for "localdomain".  You should be able to do this via Fedora's
admin utility easy enough.  Then tell your DHCP server to dish out the 
server's
IP as the DNS server.
