OK, that's fine, Brock. ALL I was saying was the if the device is detected,
you're going to see a line for it in the window that Mark and others are
talking about, and if the device is NOT deteted, you will NOT see it. I am
fairly confident that Ubuntu detects my built-in modem, because ther's an
area for it in that window. If you have a Winmodem (or any other kind of modem)
that is not detected, one symptom that it has not been detected is its
absence from this window. Now, there may be other driver available for
some winmodems, but this is how you know you've succeeded or not.
