Okay, but honestly I have no idea how to organize it into something,
well, orderly. Written down it looks to me like a hodge podge splatter
pattern of tools (fewer tools = better, IMHO).

Trust me, I know. We've consumed/assimilated about five companies
during my tenure, and every time I ask for the network documentation I'm
met with a blank stare [ and I think to myself "oh, crap" as I picture
myself wandering around the building popping my head above the ceiling
tiles - and - yes, I have found *servers* that way ].
